7-keto

7-keto di-hydro-epi-androsterone (7-keto-DHEA or, more briefly, 7-keto) is a metabolite of 5-di-hydro-epi-androsterone. The latter is the main steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands, also secreted by the gonads and brain. 7-keto assists its precursor in the activation of receptors for androgen hormones, i.e. those hormones that stimulate the development and maintenance of male sexual characteristics, but its effect on body composition concerns the thyroid.

Function

More specifically, 7-keto promotes increased T3 production by the thyroid gland, which is followed by an equal increase in basal metabolic activity and the calorie expenditure it implies. Research shows a very significant increase in thyroid activity (17.88%), followed by a slimming effect.

Negative notes

There are no reported side effects associated with the intake of 7-keto products.

Form and posology

The form favoured by manufacturers of 7-keto products is the tablet. As for dosages, research shows that the optimal amount of 7-keto to take for slimming purposes is between 100 and 200mg/day for at most 4 weeks. It should be noted that, although an intake range is indicated, 7-keto has been shown in most research to be effective precisely for intakes at the upper limit of this range. Even in view of the absence of reported adverse effects, therefore, an intake of 200mg/day should be considered from the outset.
